Even though Rihanna was the first celebrity to be on both covers of British and American Vogue in 2016 but it is obvious that Vogue is confused as it claims Adele is the first human being on earth to be on the covers of both British and American Vogue. Well noted, Adele isn’t the first to do this.
Adele got interviewed separately on both British and American Vogue where she got personal about her divorce, motherhood, weight loss, and music. She has got an upcoming album so this will obviously go a long way to help promote the long-awaited project.
Getting personal on her divorce, Adele disclosed to British Vogue that she wrote one of the singles, ‘Easy On Me’ on her album for her 9-year-old son, Angelo, who has got loads of questions on why his mother and father no longer live together. Here is what Adele said;
“I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness. It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal.”
According to Adele who disclosed she was terrified, anxious, and embarrassed after her separation from Simon Konecki, she called it quits because it wasn’t right for her anymore. Nothing was probably working for her in that collapsed marriage.
On her 100-pound weight loss which got people talking and asking questions, Adele revealed that the weight loss happened over a period of two years and then also let us know that she never changed her diet to lose weight and that it happened as a result of exercising to improve her mental health and wellbeing.
According to Adele:
“Working out, I would just feel better. It was never about losing weight, it was always about becoming strong and giving myself as much time every day without my phone. I got quite addicted to it. I work out two or three times a day.
People have been talking about my body for 12 years. They used to talk about it before I lost weight. But yeah, whatever, I don’t care. You don’t need to be overweight to be body positive, you can be any shape or size”.
Adele then got to the very interesting part of the interview which everyone has been waiting for — that is her rumored romance with Rich Paul. According to her, she and Rich Paul have been friends for a long time and decided to take things a bit further.
Adele also let us know that Rich Paul is different from all the men she has dated in the past and from this, we can say that she is really in love with Rich and we wouldn’t be surprised to hear news of their nuptials in the coming months.
Adele also talked about the bantu knot pictures which got people going after her on social media last year. Here is what she said:
“I could see comments being like, ‘the nerve to not take it down,’ which I totally get. But if I take it down, it’s me acting like it never happened. And it did. I totally get why people felt like it was appropriating. If you don’t go dressed to celebrate the Jamaican culture – and in so many ways we’re so entwined in that part of London – then it’s a little bit like, ‘What you coming for, then?’. I didn’t read the f** room.” Karma came for her anyway, she adds, drily. “I was wearing a hairstyle that is actually to protect Afro hair. Ruined mine, obviously.”
Adele also discussed how people talked about her new body in her interview with American Vogue and here is what she had to say:
“My body’s been objectified my entire career. It’s not just now. I understand why it’s a shock. I understand why some women especially were hurt. Visually I represented a lot of women. But I’m still the same person. The most brutal conversations were being had by other women about my body. I was very fucking disappointed with that. That hurt my feelings.”
